Red and Orange weather warnings

To Northland, Auckland, Hauraki/Coromandel and Bay of Plenty members

It’s not over yet. More significant falls of rain and strong winds forecast over the next 48 hours for Northland, Auckland, Coromandel and Bay of Plenty.

There has already been significant damage in these provinces with the ground saturated and still under water in some areas. On farm infrastructure, tracks, buildings, culverts, etc., have been significantly affected and access both on and off farm will continue to be challenging over the next few days. Keep up-to-date with what the weather is doing in your area and remember localised rainfalls may be significantly more than forecasted.

As your Provincial Presidents we want to hear from you with details of what the damage is and how you or someone you know has been impacted. This is so we can ensure agencies are receiving this information to enable them to better assess the situation and declare an adverse event if necessary.

Where possible move stock to higher ground and sheltered paddocks. Treat fast flowing water with respect and remind those on or in vehicles along farm tracks to take it easy in slippery conditions.
Don’t go out unless you need to; emergency services are stretched and have been clear that unless you have to, just stay home, warm and dry.
